Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

ChosenPages (chosenpages.org, the “Service”) is owned and operated by Janelle Webb, a sole proprietor doing business as ChosenPages and Glorify God Ministry, based in Morristown, Tennessee, USA (“we,” “us,” “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. It is part of our Terms of Service. 2. Information we collect

Account information: your name, email address and password (stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash; we never see or store your plain-text password). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. If you turn on two-factor authentication, we store the security settings needed to verify you.

Phone number (if you choose to use it): if phone sign-up or text-message verification is offered and you choose it, we collect your mobile number to send one-time verification codes. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop messages or HELP for help. We do not use your number for marketing texts and do not share it for others’ marketing.

Content you create: books, chapters, character profiles, notes, ideas, prayer and Scripture journal entries, research, language lexicons, covers and other files you upload, and anything else you write in the Service. Some of this may be very personal, such as testimonies or prayers. It is your content, and we use it only to provide the Service to you.

Sharing and collaboration: if you invite beta readers, accountability partners or collaborators, or share a preview link, we process their names or email addresses and the content you choose to share with them, plus any feedback they leave.

Subscription and billing information: your plan, billing status, trial dates, referral code use and payment history. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number.

Usage information: writing activity (word counts, streaks, daily logs), the features you use, and your settings (fonts, themes, accessibility preferences, Scripture version).

Technical information: IP address, browser and device type, and logs that our hosting provider records to keep the Service running and secure, detect abuse and fix errors.

Website analytics (public pages only): if analytics cookies are allowed, Google Analytics records how visitors use our public pages, such as the homepage, pricing, help, writing guides and legal pages: the pages viewed, the website that referred you, your approximate location (city or country), and your device and browser type. It never runs on pages inside your account or on private links, and it never receives your writing. Details and your choices are in our Cookie Policy.

Messages: if you email us, we receive your email address and what you send.

3. How we use your information

• To provide the Service: storing and syncing your writing, exports, writing analytics and the features of your plan
• To create and secure your account, verify your identity and prevent fraud and abuse
• To process subscriptions, free trials, refunds and referral rewards
• To send service emails, such as receipts, trial reminders, security alerts and important changes
• To send occasional product news and encouragement, if you’ve agreed; you can unsubscribe at any time
• To provide support and respond to your requests
• To understand overall use of the Service and improve it, including measuring visits to our public pages with Google Analytics (if you allow it) and reviewing signups, trials and paying members in a private business dashboard that only the owner can sign in to. That dashboard shows each account’s name, email address or phone number, plan, trial and billing dates, signup date, and activity totals (number of books, word count and when you last wrote). It never receives your writing, book titles or journals.
• To enforce our Terms and comply with the law

We do not sell or rent your personal information, use your manuscripts or journals for advertising, share your information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use your writing to train AI models.

Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland): we process your information to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), for our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, support and improving the Service), with your consent (marketing emails, analytics cookies, optional features), and to meet legal obligations (tax and accounting records).

4. Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us run ChosenPages, only as needed for their service, and under obligations to protect it:

• Vercel (website hosting and servers)
• Supabase (secure database storage for your account and writing)
• Stripe (payments and billing; Stripe Privacy Policy)
• Resend (sending account and service emails)
• Google (only if you choose “Sign in with Google”)
• Google Analytics (visit statistics for our public pages, only if analytics cookies are allowed; Google signals and advertising features are off; Google Privacy Policy)
• Twilio (only if text-message verification is offered and you choose it)

Tools that send text you enter to an outside service:

• Translation Tool: the text you paste into the Translation Tool is sent from your browser to MyMemory (a service of Translated S.r.l., Italy) to be translated. Please don’t paste private or sensitive writing into it.
• Scripture lookup: Scripture references you look up are sent to the free bible-api.com service to fetch the verse text. Only the reference is sent, not your writing.

People you choose to share with: beta readers, partners and collaborators you invite can see what you share with them.

Legal and safety reasons: we may disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or others, or to enforce our Terms. If ChosenPages is ever transferred to a new owner, your information may transfer with it, subject to this policy.

Links in the Research Resources section and elsewhere go to other websites with their own privacy practices.

5. Security and your account

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls and optional two-factor authentication. No system is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password, turn on two-factor authentication in Account Settings, and keep your own backups with the built-in export tools. Our Terms of Service explain the limits of our responsibility for data loss and for access caused by compromised credentials. If we learn of a security breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.

6. How long we keep information

• Your account and writing: for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information and content within 30 days, except where we must keep it by law or to resolve disputes. Backups are overwritten on a rolling schedule.
• Billing records: as long as required for tax and accounting (generally up to seven years).
• Website analytics: Google Analytics keeps visit data for the retention period set in our account (14 months or less). Analytics cookies last up to 2 years unless you decline them or clear them.
• Marketing email preferences: if you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a suppression list so we never email you marketing again.

7. Your rights and choices

• Access and portability: export your books any time, or ask us for a copy of your personal information.
• Correction: update your details in Account Settings or ask us to correct them.
• Deletion: delete your account in Account Settings or email us.
• Objection and restriction: ask us to stop or limit certain uses.
• Marketing: unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email.
• Analytics cookies: accept or decline at any time with Cookie settings. We honor Global Privacy Control signals.
• Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing.

To make a request, email glorifygodministry@icloud.com from the address on your account. We respond within 30 days (or 45 days where a law allows). Depending on where you live, such as California, other U.S. states with privacy laws, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you may have additional rights, including the right to appeal our decision on your request and to complain to your local data protection authority. We give these rights to all users and won’t treat you differently for using them. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it.

8. Cookies

ChosenPages uses cookies and browser storage that are needed to sign you in, keep your session secure, remember that you accepted the Terms, and remember your settings. On public pages only, we also use optional Google Analytics cookies, which you can accept or decline. We don’t use advertising cookies. Details are in our Cookie Policy.

9. International users

We are based in the United States, and our service providers store and process information in the United States and other countries. If you use ChosenPages from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to the U.S., where privacy laws may differ. Where required, our providers use legal safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Children’s privacy

ChosenPages is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to create an account. Users under 18 should use ChosenPages with a parent or guardian’s permission, and a parent or guardian must manage any purchase. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email glorifygodministry@icloud.com.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service changes. We’ll update the “Last Updated” date and, for significant changes, notify you by email or in the Service before the change takes effect.
