We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your manuscript content for advertising purposes.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure, encrypted servers. We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, hashed password storage, and access controls. No system is completely secure — while we take extensive precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
5. Account Security, Unauthorized Access, and Data Loss
You are solely responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account. We strongly recommend using a strong, unique password and enabling multi-factor authentication, available in Account Settings.
ChosenPages is not liable for the loss, corruption, or deletion of your account data or creative content — including manuscripts, chapters, notes, and uploaded files — regardless of cause, including software defects, server or infrastructure failure, third-party service outages, or user error. We encourage you to periodically export your work using the Service's built-in export tools and keep your own independent backups.
ChosenPages is likewise not liable for unauthorized or fraudulent access to your account arising from compromised, shared, reused, or stolen credentials, phishing, social engineering, or malware on your own device, except where such access is directly caused by our gross negligence or willful misconduct. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately through the platform so we can help secure it.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or necessary to resolve disputes or enforce agreements.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal retention obligations)
- Portability: Request an export of your data in a common format
- Objection: Object to certain uses of your data
To exercise these rights, contact us through the platform. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Cookies and Tracking
ChosenPages uses session cookies necessary for authentication and to maintain your logged-in state. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or behavioral advertising cookies. We may use anonymized analytics to understand how the platform is used in aggregate.
9. Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services to operate the platform, including database hosting, payment processing, and infrastructure providers. These providers are contractually obligated to handle your data securely and only for the purpose of providing services to us. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites linked from the Research Resources section of the platform.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us personal information, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us immediately.
11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know, the right to delete, and the right to opt-out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise CCPA rights, contact us through the platform.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date and, where appropriate, providing notice within the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
